8 Drugstore Products Used Backstage at NYFW
Arguably the chicest week of the year in New York City is fashion week (which technically spans more than a week and comes twice a year, but I digress). All around the backstage area of a show, you'll see models ushering from station to station, camera bulbs flashing away, racks of chic and never-before-seen designer clothing, and the occasional celebrity. But amid all the glitz, glam, and seemingly unattainable aspects of fashion week are some welcomed attainability: drugstore beauty products.
It's true: High-fashion brands like Jason Wu and Opening Ceremony enlist the help of Maybelline products to create their runway beauty looks, and affordable haircare brands like Tresemmé and Tigi dress up the models' strands at a number of shows. Alas—we may not be able to afford the designer clothes on the runway, but surely we can scrounge up our dollars to re-create the models' makeup.
Below you'll find the drugstore beauty products used on the runway this season. Are you ready?
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water ($14)
Bioderma Micellar Water ($43) has been so prevalent backstage at NYFW that we'd think they were a sponsor, but as a more affordable option, we spotted some Garnier micellar water, too. The gentle cleanser whisks away dirt and makeup while also hydrating, perfect for sensitive skin.
Maybelline Dream Cushion ($0)
Maybelline's Dream Cushion has been used at a ton of shows so far this season: Rebecca Minkoff, Ottolinger, Etienne Derœux, Jonathan Simkhai, and Band of Outsiders, to name a few. It has a sheer finish, so your skin can still peer through while the formula blurs imperfections—perfect for that nude makeup look we constantly see on the runways. Expect to see it in store in the first half of 2017.
