The Life-Saving Beauty Products I’m Packing for New York Fashion Week
In a couple of hours, I will be on a red-eye flight to New York to go backstage at Fashion Week and give Byrdie readers an inside look at the best beauty trends for next spring. I know—life is hard.
Knowing that the next few days are going to be a whirlwind of running back and forth between shows in (comfortable) heels, obsessive picture-taking, and makeup artist interviews, I’ve prepared an arsenal of products to help me look alert and awake (even if I’m not). From on-the-go eye masks to a soothing, sleep-inducing satchet (not as weird as it sounds), keep flipping to see the life-saving products I’m bringing with me to New York Fashion Week!
La Prairie Anti-Ageing Eye & Lip Perfection à Porter ($150)
The perfect size to toss in my bag, this adorable compact contains a light-reflecting eye cream (I love the light, mousse-like consistency) and a plumping lip balm for on-the-go touch-ups.
Jonathan Cohen for Shu Uemura Cosmetic Case ($48)
Not only is this limited-edition Jonathan Cohen for Shu Uemura case totally chic (I’m a sucker for neoprene anything), but it’s also the perfect size for my mini bottles of Shu’s Full Shimmer Shampoo ($19) and Conditioner ($19) and Essence Absolue ($26).
L’Occitane Aromachologie Relaxing Perfumed Sachets ($19)
I plan on putting one of these under my pillow the minute I get to my hotel—the lavender, bergamot, and mandarin essential oils have coaxed me to sleep on many a stressed-out night, and I expect it to do the same when I’m in New York.
Tatcha Original Aburatorigami Blotting Papers ($12)
Oily skin and hot, humid weather is not a pretty sight. That’s why I’m packing these delicate blotting papers with me to keep shine (and sweat) at bay as I’m running from show to show.
Soapwalla Deodorant Cream ($14)
Perhaps deodorant isn’t the most glamorous product to include in a list of travel beauty essentials, but it’s a necessity for sure. I admit that the thought of scooping out a deodorant cream and applying it to my underarms wasn’t the most appealing, but after just one use of this product I became a believer. Soapwalla’s version is all-natural and actually works—I’m fully confident that I’ll smell fresh and clean whenever I use it, no matter how high the temps get.
Urban Decay Naked Flushed ($30) in Streak
I love a good double-duty product, but a triple-duty product? Even better. This palette by Urban Decay’s obsessively-followed Naked line features a peachy blush, matte bronzer, and shimmery highlighter that gives me an instant glow every single time.
Jouer Matte Moisture Tint ($38) in Linen
This oil-free tinted moisturizer has the best texture—it’s light and almost mousse-like, but gives you an airbrushed finish. Plus, it has SPF 15, so I can rest assured my skin will be protected too.
Be The Skin Botanical Moisturizing Soothing Cream ($35)
Can you tell I’m a little bit obsessed with skincare? In case you can’t, here’s another skin product I’ll be bringing with me: Be The Skin’s Botanical Moisturizing Soothing Cream ($35)—a lot of adjectives, yes, but it’s the perfect p.m. moisturizer and actually does everything it promises. I use this Korean product at night and wake up to plump, refreshed skin.
