Summer Nights: Three Sultry Makeup Looks You Can do at Your Desk
Summer is a notoriously difficult season for makeup experimentation. It should be prime time for busting out avant-garde looks (dual-eyeliner anyone?), but humidity inevitably shows up to crash the party. The good news is there are looks you can try that'll boost your makeup beyond the everyday *and* actually last. Even better, you can do them at your desk. (Because summer = after-work drinks.)
Keep scrolling for three simple but sultry makeup looks you need to try now.
Blue eye makeup is one of our favourite summer trends, but look-at-me eyeshadow is not everyone's cup of tea. If you want to play with colour but fear looking OTT, make like Sarah Hyland and team subtle dashes of marine liner with flicky lashes. To recreate this look at your desk, etch a gel pencil like Nars' Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner ($35) in Khao San Rode along lids, then apply a volumising mascara to refresh your fringe.
Um, has Chanel Iman been reading Byrdie Australia? The model's charcoal underliner and nude lip combo looks startlingly similar to a look recently modelled by Samara Weaving in our summer makeup shoot. To DIY, look down into a hand mirror and sketch deep grey pencil along your lower lashlines. Gently press the pigment into the skin with fingers for a smudgy finish. Add glossy liquid lipstick like L'Oreal Paris' Colour Riche Extraordinaire ($22) in Nude Ballet for extra polish.

Trust Olivia Wilde to gift us with a way to achieve that winged liquid liner feel minus the inevitable mistakes and "running late—liner emergency!" texts. Using a soft dark pencil like Revlon's ColorStay Eyeliner ($24) in Black create a cat-eye-esque shape by drawing only a third of the way along both upper and lower lids. Next, take a small dense blending brush and sweep shadow in a similar shade on top to add extra smoulder. It's so easy—and fast—you can nail it in minutes.
