Colour Story: Cotton Candy Pink
We don’t have to tell you how to wear pink makeup—you probably have your fair share of rosy blush and bright lipstick—but it’s cotton candy pink we’re loving right now. Sure, it has juvenile connotations, but the ultimate girly shade is undoubtedly retro and flattering. So steal Brigitte Bardot’s pale lips or cop Camilla Belle’s sexy stare—you’ll look anything but childish.
The most obvious way to wear the shade is also the most flattering: dusted onto the apples of your cheeks! Try Cargo’s Blush ($29) in Catalina or CoverGirl’s Cheekers Blush ($4) in Classic Pink. Laura Mercier’s Baked Eye Colour ($23) in Pink Petal works as a highlighter on your brow bone and the inner corners of your eyes, or as a wash of colour on lids. When it comes to nails, choose OPI’s Nail Lacquer ($9) in Mod About You—it’s the most playful neutral around.
Nars is feeling the sugar high, too. The newest shade of their Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($25), Paimpol, is as cotton candy as it gets. Or try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tar ($18) in Narcissus; the thick formula may be tricky to apply, but get it right and it’ll last all day.
Feeling brave? Mix equal parts conditioner and Manic Panic’s Semi-Permanent Hair Colour ($10) in Cotton Candy Pink and apply to the ends of blonde hair for pale pink tips that will last till fall. (If you’re not blonde, lighten your ends first!) Or, for one-night-only drama, reach for Sephora’s Glitter Eyeliner and Mascara ($14) in Sweetheart Pink—just add black liner for a look that’s sweet, but not saccharine.
