Hold Up—Chanel Just Made Pigtails Chic
The words “pigtails” and “chic” don’t generally belong in the same sentence… that is, unless, we’re talking about the Karl Lagerfeld-approved hairstyle that sashayed down the runway at Chanel’s S/S 16 show last night. (Editor’s note: Can we please talk about the airline-themed set for a minute? Obsessed.)
According to Allure, stylist Sam McKnight transformed the models into first class jet-setters by tying hair into two low pigtails, and accessorising with bow-topped barrettes, metallic headbands and boater hats. The complete effect was enough to make us reconsider the aim of our own pre-flight beauty routines (in a word: casual), and had us questioning why our high school barrettes have laid unworn for so long.
We’re also a little bit in love with the grey-blue shadow models wore around their eyes. Yes, it’s unwearable as is, but that won’t stop us attempting a more subtle wash of blue (just on lids) next time we’re feeling adventurous. Such is the power of King Karl.
For a minimalist take on McKnight’s hairstyle, we love Mimco’s Cadet Barrette ($35).
What do you think of Chanel’s take on pigtails? Reckon this style could snaffle you an upgrade?
