15 Things Top Makeup Artists Want for Christmas
While you might think beauty editors get their fix the other 364 days of the year, we'd still be ecstatic to find out that Santa brought us beauty products on Christmas morning. Makeup, skincare, hair tools—we'll take it all with open arms. Another group who doesn't tire of this category of presents? Makeup artists. They live and breathe beauty too, so to any gift purchased at Sephora, they say, "Bring it on."
Since makeup artists are attuned to the best products on the market, we asked to take a peek at their Christmas wish lists. As expected, their picks didn't disappoint—we anticipated we'd discover some lesser-known makeup products (we did), but we were also pleasantly surprised to find some wildcard items peppered their want lists (like cellulite-fighters and facial toning devices). Below, check out the beauty buys makeup artists are hoping to find under their trees this year.
Daniel Martin, celebrity makeup artist
Suzy Gerstein, Honey makeup artist
Eucerin In-Shower Moisturiser ($15)
An in-shower body lotion is one of the most genius product innovations, especially for those of us who hate that post-moisturiser greasy feeling. Gerstein agrees, "I'm a busy working mom, and I don't always have time for the extra step of lotion after the shower. Any opportunity to cut time in my routine makes me very happy."
Katie Mellinger, celebrity makeup artist
French Girl Organics Lumière Body Oil in Jasmin/Néroli ($80)
Mellinger simplified her wish list this year. "For Christmas, I would love six bottles of this oil. It smells amazing, looks amazing on the skin, and no nasties! I'm thoroughly addicted to it. I slather it on my body on the daily. Six bottles would hopefully get me through the year without having to buy a refill… maybe."
Amy Strozzi, celebrity makeup artist
NuFace Trinity Facial Toning Device ($460)
Fillers have never been more prevalent, but this device allows you to get the same lifted and toned results sans needles. Strozzi says, "I really, really, really want a NuFace Trinity Facial Trainer with the eye and wrinkle-reducer attachments. I've got some fine lines I'd love to minimise for 2017!"
Kristine Cruz, senior makeup artist at Antonio Prieto Salon
Andre Sarmiento, celebrity makeup artist
SK II Facial Treatment Essence ($100)
"I love this product, and I'm a firm believer in its ability to impart youth and beauty. It makes your skin its best. I've always tried to take care of my skin, but when this became a part of my skincare regimen, it really changed the game. I also feel like it makes my other products more effective. For the holidays, the brand has come out with these gorgeous bottles that mimic traditional Japanese marbling. The Purity bottle on my wish list is blue, but they have red and green editions as well. It's so beautiful to look at, and it's such an effective product. I think any beauty lover would be thrilled to get this as a gift."
Gita Bass, celebrity makeup artist
"This simple little tool is incredible for breaking down fat and cellulite in those stubborn areas that no amount of SoulCycle will reach. There's also an extra-mini version coming out that stimulates blood flow and collagen production in the face to help with fine lines, wrinkles and to give you an extra glow." Robert Greene, Honey makeup artist
Kelli Bartlett, Director of makeup artistry for Glamsquad
Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Parties Advent Calendar ($295)
"I grew up counting down to Christmas with an advent calendar and this is such a chic upgrade," Bartlett says. "What could be better than opening each door to reveal one of Charlotte's makeup surprises? I am obsessed with the Legendary Lashes Mascara and Eyes to Mesmerise shadow."
