Reviewed: Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon
I typically shy away from colour on my lips. I like dramatic hair and eyes, so I keep my lips a soft pink or neutral shade almost 100% of the time. Which is why when I find a high-pigment lippy that makes me actually want to wear unabashed colour, it's pretty special. The latest product to change my feelings is Butter London's Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon ($20), which is nothing short of the perfect summer lip product. It comes in 10 shades and combines the coverage of an opaque lipstick with a super–high-shine finish that's non-sticky and majorly moisturizing. The punchy shades are unique, highly pigmented, flattering, and summery, Disco Biscuit and Trout Pout being my favourite. Disco Biscuit is a brilliant fuschia pink, and Trout Pout is an electric coral. I recently spent a few days on vacation in Portland, Oregon, and packed almost no makeup except for these versatile crayons to liven up each outfit. Disco Biscuit translated just as well from broad daylight to night, and I wore Trout Pout for an entire day of wine tasting. I got so many compliments and questions on what I was wearing, and though it's fun to reapply, you hardly even need to, because the shiny colour lasts for hours. When it does fade, it turns into more of a stained look that's just as pretty. What's more, each pencil comes with a built-in sharpener, and the formula is mint-flavored, so it tastes delicious. The slim crayon transports easily for on-the-go touch-ups, and speaking from experience, when your friend sees how great the colour looks, she's going to ask to borrow it, taste the mint, and promptly buy one for herself.
