Earlier this year, we reported that tiger eye hair colour was on the brink of becoming the It hair colour, and according to one celebrity colourist we were on to something because he calls the golden brunette shade one of the biggest hair trends of 2017.

Matrix Style Link Celebrity Colourist George Papanikolas, who's clients include Madonna, Hannah Jeter, and Hailey Baldwin says, "It's the latest evolution of Bronde." The stone the colour is inspired by is a semi-precious rock with a unique pattern of bronze, gold, and dark brown striping—and the hair colour iteration is gorgeous. "This colour is a combination of highlights—in shades like honey, amber and soft brown—that are painted on using the balayage technique," he says. "The look has a universal appeal as it sits in the middle of the hair colour spectrum. It can be adjusted warmer or cooler to suit your skin tone," he adds.

Papanikolas also adds that nude hair is going to be big for lighter locks. "Think Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne," he says. Nude hair is neutral and natural, giving the appearance of a soft look. Similarly, Baby Blond will be the pastel compliment to dark winter clothes, says the colourist. "When committing to this colour, maintenance is so important. I always recommend Matrix Total Results Hello Blondie Shampoo ($23) and Conditioner ($23 to keep hair radiant between salon visits," he notes.

Of course, it wouldn't be a trend report without a bold statement colour in the mix. Papanikolas predicts a major moment for Jewel Tone hair, "the bolder version of the pastel trend but not as intense as the ultra-vibrant punk colours." It's a fun option with colour inspiration from shades like pink quartz and sapphire blue painted in soft ribbons and colour melts.

Which hair colour trend do you think will have a big moment in 2017?
