6 Budge-Proof Mascaras (That Are Surprisingly Easy to Take Off)

Allie Flinn

A nice once-over with a body or face scrub can take us to our relaxing happy place atthe end of the day. But the one ritual we don't love? Scrubbing our eyes, while trying to remove every last bit of mascara. Not only is it annoying and irritating, all that wear and tear can really do a number on the health of our lashes. Still, we continue to swipe on mascara day after day in the quest for longer lashes. That's where these tube-technology formulas come in.

Don Frey (a veteran cosmetic chemist) of Don Frey Consulting says that in the brands he has seen, tubing mascaras fall into two categories: waterproof and washable waterproof. The difference? "The washable waterproof mascaras will come off with warm water, but that also means they can smudge if you go to the gym and start to 'glow' a little," Frey says. So how can you figure out which is which? "Washable waterproof mascaras will have water as one of the very first ingredients," he says. We think a little bit of mascara smudging is a fair trade for formulas that don't take a gallon of makeup remover and hours of scrubbing to get off. (Plus, you already know our thoughts on wearing makeup to the gym.)

Here, we gathered the best washable waterproof tubing mascaras that require only warm water and light pressure to take off—no makeup remover required.
