17 Epic New Beauty Launches to Fall In Love With In 2017
With the Christmas holidays all but a distant memory for many of us, it's time to turn our attention to prepping for the start of the work year. For some, this may mean researching strategies to boost productivity in the office, for others it could be as simple as designing a food prep game plan. (Fact: Bringing your lunch from home is essential if you want to stay on the New Year's healthy eating bandwagon.) No matter what your personal improvement goals are for 2017, I'd highly recommend adding one pure joy-inducing intention to your list. Something that will bring you happiness and good vibes, and won't cost you any effort. My suggestion? Factoring in some regular pamper time.
This may sound silly, but cultivating personal time in which you rest and recharge is not something to be sneezed at. It's no secret that all-natural remedies for anxiety can work wonders when routinely practiced, but even on a base level, putting aside some "me time" can do wonders for your sense of self. Here are a few ideas I've personally found helpful in previous years: Taking one relaxing bubble bath per week; scheduling in a fortnightly DIY facial; and devoting 15-minutes every other day to self-massage (aka foam rolling). If none of these float your boat, how about simply splashing out on an indulgent beauty buy a few times a year? Choose something that makes you feel good every time you use it, and you'll reap the benefits all year long.
Which brings me to... pretty new things! Ahead you'll find 17 epic new beauty launches to fall in love with this year, each one perfect and happy-making in its own special way. From a new take on my all-time favourite natural deodorant (the best on the market IMO), to brightening skincare inspired by a traditional Indian pre-wedding ceremony, there are plenty of things to take your fancy.

Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue ($90)
Inspired by that "specific moment" you realise that spring has arrived, this update on Miu Miu's original EDP smells like a woodland garden the morning after rain. TL;DR: You'll pick up nectarous lily-of-the-valley and honeysuckle, along with an oud-like note called Akigalawood.
This product launches January 29th.
Venustus Summer Body Polish ($59)
My love for Venustus' range of body polishes runs DEEP. (Not a week goes by I don't bust one out to slough away dead skin and self-tan buildup.) The latest variant to hit my shower caddy is this nourishing blend of zesty organic lime, heady vanilla and spearmint. If you're also a fan of oil-based scrubs beware—resistance is futile.
Oribe The Cleanse Clarifying Shampoo ($60)
I'm still not sure how this mousse-like shampoo manages to cleanse my scalp so effectively, but I'm a convert. For a clarifying shampoo, it's unusually hydrating, and won't leave your strands feeling stripped. It also smells incredible (like a French salon), which is nothing less than I'd expect from primo brand Oribe.
Sisley Intensive Serum With Tropical Resins ($200)
Perfect for problem skin, this serum relies on a cocktail of purifying ingredients (see: salicylic acid, Java tea, benzoin extract) to unclog pores, refine texture, and knock back shine. The best bit? It does double-duty as a complexion-perfecting primer.
Kiehl's Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream ($84)
Crafted with Manuka honey and red ginseng root, this newbie from Kiehl's is all about reaching peak skin healthiness. The main ingredients support resilience and repair and gentle exfoliation respectively, for a complexion so smooth it glows.
This product launches January 15th.
Aveda Tulasāra Wedding Masque Eye Overnight ($74)
Inspired by an Indian pre-wedding event known as the haldi ceremony (where both bride- and groom-to-be are painted with a ceremonial radiance-boosting paste), this leave-on eye mask shares similar beautifying properties. Made with a blend of puff-fighting algae extracts as well as turmeric (a known brightening agent), it lessens the look of dark circles overnight.
Agent Nateur Holi (Rose) No.4 Deodorant ($32)
If you've pledged to make 2017 the year you swap your traditional deod for something aluminium-free, you've come to the right place. IMHO, Agent Nateur makes the very best, simply because they work. This sandalwood and rose-scented stick is an update on the brand's original offering (aka the natural deodorant I didn't believe would work—but did), and it smells dreamy.
Palmer's Coconut Oil Cleansing Balm ($12)
For super-clean skin, oil cleansing is where it's at. Enter: This wallet-friendly balm from Palmer's aka the Kings of cocoa butter. Made with a cocktail of nourishing oils including coconut, it gently dissolves grime and makeup leaving your skin clean and soft.
Skyn Iceland Plumping Lip Gels ($50)
I never thought I'd consider lip sheet masks a beauty essential, but here we are. As someone who lives with a perpetually dry pout, I didn't think these berry-scented plumping gels would do much. WRONG. After one use (during which I Snapchatted my patch-covered mouth to at least 80 per cent of my mates) my lips were noticeably softer and more full.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara ($22)
I love a tubing mascara almost as much as I love free frosé, so you can imagine my glee at discovering this new drugstore launch. It ticks all the boxes; fragrance-free formula, lots of black pigment, and a volumising plastic bristle brush. Plus, it's half the price of my usual go-to, Kevyn Aucoin's The Volume Mascara ($40).
BareMinerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo ($46)
You're looking at a duo of translucent setting powders that offer both luminous and satin skin finishes in one handy compact. Genius, right? Especially great for combination or oily types, dust Glow on cheeks and Matte over your T-zone for a truly perfected complexion.
Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin Advanced 1-Minute Mask ($157)
An exfoliant and anti-ageing mask in one, this foam-to-cream formula gently refines skin using both AHAs and BHA (glycolic, citric and salicylic acids respectively) for a radiant, more even complexion. Use it before bed to maximise the effects of your nighttime skincare routine.
This product launches January 29th.
U.S. Apothecary Elderflower & Vetiver Bubble Bath ($60)
If you're keen to commit to more pampery baths this year (better than "drink less wine", no?), you'll want to stock up on luxe bubbles like these from U.S. Apothecary. Paraben-, sufate-, and petrochemical-free, the formula is 98 per cent natural and vegan, and smells like elderflower, lemon and vetiver.
Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Peach-Infused Highlighting Palette ($61)
I'm no stranger to an Instagram-induced Too Faced sell out (remember this cutesy palette?) but even I can't compute the level of perfection that is this particular cheek kit. A highlighter, blush and bronzer in one, it's everything you need to fake a model-esque bone structure. (Bonus points for the lip-smacking peach scent.)
This product launches January 31st.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer ($36)
This baby effectively takes the hassle out of applying gel liner, having replaced the fiddly pot and brush format with an easy-to-use pencil. Packed with pigment (for a super-black finish), it also sets to a budge- and waterproof finish. The best bit? It has a built-in sharpener for precise flicks every time.
