The One Concealer All Makeup Artists Use to Hide Breakouts
Imagine you go to sleep all clean-skinned and wake up with a big, red zit. Not hard to imagine, right? We've all been in that position, even celebrities. When celebs wake up with a glaring, uninvited guest, they, like you, have no choice but to power through—they can't cancel their photo shoot, performance, appearance, or (insert celebrity event here). But, unlike us regular people, they do have access to professional help in said emergency situations. These professionals know exactly how to cover a breakout, and they all have a very similar solution.
Scroll through to find out which concealer all makeup artists use to hide breakouts.
The concealer in question? No surprises here. It's the cult classic Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer ($97). Everyone raves about it (Byrdie readers and editors alike). "I like a formula that's a little dry—it helps to absorb additional oil in the area. Clé de Peau Beauté is one of my all-time favourites," makeup artist Nicole Walmsley says.
But the real key here is that's it's not just any shade; it's the Ocher shade. "Clé de Peau Concealer in Ocher has the perfect amount of yellow to cover the remaining bit of red," says makeup artist Tracey Levy. She also notes that drier forms of concealer (like this one) are ideal for concealing pimples. It's even the shade Victoria Justice swears by.
One question still remains: What if Ocher isn't your perfect match shade? Layer it. "I take my favourite Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer (the only one you truly ever need) and lightly dab the concealer onto the blemish, layering it until it disappears. Finish with a translucent powder like Laura Mercier's' ($62)," makeup artist Desirae Cherman says.
