Exclusive: Model Anna Ewers on Balenciaga, Beer DIYs, and More

Faith Xue

On the phone, Anna Ewers is polite, soft-spoken, and charmingly shy. In front of the lens, the model takes on a different persona. Take a look at any editorial she’s been in, and you’ll understand: Ewers commands attention with a pointed, mesmerising gaze and a surprising sultriness that veers into Bardot territory. Perhaps it’s this mix of vulnerability and ferocity that made Alexander Wang—in his new role as creative director at Balenciaga—handpick her to be the face of B. by Balenciaga, and the reason why she walked down 37 runways (Céline, Balenciaga, and Prada, to name a few) in 2014.

We sat down with the German model and asked her about her new role as the face of Balenciaga’s new fragrance, her favourite beauty DIY (beer is involved), and her favourite massage spot in NYC. Keep scrolling to read our interview, as well as see exclusive, behind-the-scenes photos from the fragrance campaign.
