The Trick to Amanda Seyfried’s Elegant Braid

by Jacqueline DeMarco

Amanda Seyfried has starred in some of our favourite romantic movies, so it comes as little surprise that she pulled off such a romantic look at the Toronto International Film Festival this past weekend. She paired a lacy floral dress with rosy makeup and the prettiest take on a French braid we have ever seen.

Lucky for us, hairstylist Jenny Cho is sharing exactly how she created the look, which we will be promptly copying for date night. Cho created the look after spotting Seyfried’s lacy ensemble. “I was inspired by her fun, flirty dress and wanted to play along with this theme. I decided to do a French twist with a knot into a ponytail, and I think it complemented the dress perfectly,” said Cho. To get the look for yourself, start by forming a side part and apply Suave Professionals Morroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo  ($4) at the roots and smooth Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusions Styling Oil ($7) on the ends of your hair.  Then, French braid each side of your hair until you meet both braids at the back of the head. After you finish both braids at the nape of the neck, make two knots with the hair you did not braid. Then secure a ponytail holder at the base of the knots and add bobby pins throughout to secure your style. Finish with a light spray of hairspray and you are ready for a night of romance.
