Amanda Seyfried Rocks '90s Cornrows on the Red Carpet, Looks Awesome
We associate a lot of things with Amanda Seyfried: elegant style, perfect skin, “on Wednesdays we wear pink”… The list goes on. What we have never associated with Seyfried, however, are cornrows. Yes, they’ve come a long way since their moment in the spotlight during the ’90s (see also Cara Delevingne’s and Jessica Alba’s recent chic and edgy versions), but they’re still not necessarily anything we would expect from Seyfried, who usually graces red carpets with elegant updos or Old Hollywood waves. And yet, the actress threw us all for a loop last night at the Ted 2 premiere in New York with four distinct cornrows running from the front of her hairline all the way down the length of her (very long) strands, then tied neatly in a loose knot. This hair masterpiece is the work of Seyfried’s hairstylist, Renato Campora, who posted a photo on his Instagram and said the actress was “flawlessly styled.” We have to agree—and give him (and her) major, major props for giving us a strong urge to brush up on our long-forgotten cornrow-braiding technique.
A smoothing, shine-creating hair spray, like Kérastase K Gloss Appeal Instant Shine Top Coat for Hair ($38), will help lock your braids in place.
