As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a tonne of new products every day (we know—tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a supermarket lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us in winter, you’ll find all of our favourites in this column. Enjoy!

I’m pretty results-driven when it comes to skincare. When deciding whether or not a new product should be accepted into my long-term routine, my thought process is simple. “Is this new serum/moisturiser/oil working best for me right now?” Yes: it goes on the bathroom shelf. If not—no matter how luxe it looks—the rejected product goes back in its (usually beautiful) box.

Every now and then a product that’s both pretty and efficacious comes along and makes me question why everything can’t be pretty and efficacious. Enter: Aerin’s Rose Oil ($80).

A new addition to the brand’s coveted Rose Collection (along with an also excellent body scrub and wash), this silky oil is multi-use. It’s made with nourishing argan, rosehip and evening primrose oils, and softens everything from your face to your hair. Weirdly, I like to use it as makeshift hand cream. (Unlike typical formulas, it lasts through more than one hand wash.) It’s pretty glorious. So how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

  1. It delivers instant radiance.

Whenever my skin is looking particularly B-grade, I add a few drops of the Rose Oil to my moisturiser before I apply. I’ve also added it to my foundation when in need of an especially dewy finish.

  1. It’s multi-use.

I love products that do lots of things. (Blame it on my tiny apartment.) You can use this oil as a stand-in serum, moisturiser, hair serum, cuticle oil, bath and massage oil, and more.

  1. It smells heavenly.

Like a freshly cut bunch of roses, but in a refined and subtle way. If you hate heavily scented skincare, you’ll be pleased to know that the fragrance softens once on the skin.

  1. It looks beautiful.

Who wouldn’t want this on their bedside table? Although I’m all about substance over outer beauty (see: above), I’ve got to admit the beautifully simple design makes me happy.

  1. It lasts (almost) forever.

The bottle may look small but take my word for it—a little goes a long way. Two drops will moisturise both hands, while just three takes care of your entire face.

What’s your favourite multi-purpose product? Do you choose efficacy over looks too? Sound off in the comments.
